 Mailing Christmas cards is, of course, a cherished tradition.
It is estimated over 1.5 BILLION cards are sent annually!  that's A LOT of cards to keep track of!
nowadays, we have the aid of electronics to send us reminders, keep track of address, heck you can even have your cards automatically signed, stamped, and mailed if you like! Most of us still do it at least partially the old fashioned way, pen to paper, tongue to envelope flap:)

many companies, throughout the years,  have offered different aids to record and track greeting card traffic

here's a hard cover "Greeting Card Guide" published 1943 by H J Hailman

it includes sections for birthdays,  anniversaries, and holidays, too

there are pages for charting addresses, as well as when cards are sent and received ...

vintage recycled Angel Seashell Ornaments *handmade *upcycled

forever, I have had a weakness for little pipe cleaner ornaments and decorations of all kinds. made in Japan, dime store kitsch.....and totally charming

this little angel has pipe cleaner arms and little red wings; her red dress is adorned with glass mercury balls and her head is made of spun cotton.
this little angel was the inspiration for these ornaments....
seashells + vintage ephemera= vintage inspired interpretation!

we are spoiled with beach combing treasures here in the beautiful pacific northwest :)

I love using natural materials for crafting and I love rescuing all the beautiful vintage scraps........you can't really
go wrong combining the two!
I'm always on the lookout for vintage crafting materials to use in Vintage Recycling projects....
I scored a rare bag of never used spun cotton heads...yay! these are the same little heads used on
the vintage pipe cleaner ornaments ........

hand cut ephemera is used for the wings..... collected from vintage magazines

here are some little angels hanging
around waiting for their glittery heads to dry.........:)

these angels are hanging upside down on chopsticks while drying.....

the incidental text on the back side of their wings is so charming!

added some vintage fishing line .........ready to hang on your tree for the holidays .........or anywhere......anytime!!

in 1916, William E. Coutts founded the William E. Coutts Company, Limited in Toronto, Canada. It is said he was equipped with only 125 designs and 10 employees. He sold cards across Canada for decades. In 1948 Coutts entered into a gentleman's agreement with Joyce Hall (founder of Hall Brothers (eventually Hallmark....) to purchase partial interest in Coutt's company, Limited then, in 1958, Hall acquired the rest, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, Inc.

WWII War Bride ♥ 1940s Bridal Shower Cards

Weddings are always a special occasion when couples save greeting cards as cherished mementos. These wonderful little cards ...measuring approx 3"x3 3/4" each..... were given to a WWII war bride at her shower....still, almost 70 yrs later, they are together and give a peek into her story, as well as the era.....
..... although so tiny, these little cards were made with great attention to detail.......
♥these adorable anamorphic puppies are shown leaving the church...Bride with real lace veil embellishment... specialty paper and die~cut details, made in USA "A Gift for your Bridal Shower .....It's a 'SHOWER' right now,k but never you mind, Every 'DROP' is wished Of the happiest kind!"
♥this cheerful little card, made on lightly patterned specialty paper...... has die-cut and silvery details.....color and silver printing inside as well.... the bow has a lightly patterned plastic film embellishment..... "A Shower Gift for You........... Here's wishing that 'Sunshine' May follow your 'Shower' And this gay little gift Add more joy to the hour......."

♥This sweet blue card with the every popular shower theme...an umbrella and rain:)....was part of the same line, by the same company.... the edge has a charming die-cut detail and the umbrella has a real pink paper doily embellishment...the beautiful colorful printing and silvery details are inside, as well.... "A Bridal Shower Gift.....Along with this gift~But a drop in the shower~ Goes a wish that much joy....Will be yours from this hour...."





♥a very beautiful example.....this little card was made in USA printed on a lightlycheckered specialty paper.... it is french folded and has a die-cut bell with a pretty patterned silver foil embellishment....colorful graphics printed inside and out, on the front .......Bride and Groom atop a gift......"A Wedding Gift With Best Wishes....... Congratulations! Best wishes, too~ For the joy that belongs To folks like you!"

♥...cute!cute!cute!cute!cute!! this little chick was made in USA by Nat'L PTG. Co. Inc. the raised white detailing is inside and out.....the die~cut detail allows the card to have a middle opening.... "A Gift for the Bride.....Just a little Gift For a very charming Bride With the Best of Wishes Safely tucked...inside!"

antique Birthday cards....so charming ....so sweet♥

Beautifully illustrated early 1900s Birthday invitation postcard ..... adorable little girl sitting at table with her dolly...birthday cake and roses on the table..... "Come and join me at my birthday party.....Date....... I will be..... years old......Name.....Address....."



this humorous circa 1920s art deco flat card, litho on heavy stock~ has golden details, it reads,

"FORGOT? GUESS NOT!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY"



these two flat cards, dated 1928 have similar (wonderful) classic deco graphics and are likely from the same card line, they both have minty green, shades of pink, blue and black printing as well as golden edge details......

#1 has a little bird cage and pretty flowers...I love how the cage is empty and the blue birds are perched outside :) it reads
"On Your Birthday ....Today I'd like to say 'Hello', and 'Good for You', and 'Hope You'll know A year of gladness and success and health and luck and happiness"

#2 beautiful roses, it reads, "Birthday Greetings ....I wish You Happy Birthday! I'm hoping, too, somehow, That you'll contrive To be alive A hundred years from now" .....it was given 82 years ago!



another charming flat, heavy stock card from the same era, this little blue card has birds which are caged and uncaged! "Happy Birthday, Friend ...Since 'abody has 'abody Who really is a friend ...On a Birthday shan't 'abody Happy Greetings send?"



so cute ~ this little birthday greeting has die cut detail and is on heavy stock~
as with the other cards it is charming right down to the pretty font, colorful details and sentimental greeting

"Happy Birthday Little Girl!"
